Umbilical Hernia

True umbilical hernias are more common than you may think and are a direct result of embryological development. Many true umbilical hernias are small and completely asymptomatic and do not require surgery. Larger hernias however, may become uncomfortable and at times, unsightly. Surgical repair of the hernia is the only way to manage a symptomatic and clinically appreciable umbilical hernia. Associate Professor Gundara will take time to explain to you what is involved in surgery of this nature and the expected recovery.
