Thyroid cysts

Thyroid cysts are usually benign and are readily defined on ultrasound of the neck. Additional investigation may be required given the context and generally equates to an aspiration biopsy. Surgery is occasionally required for diagnostic purposes or for large cysts that reaccumulate over time and result in compressive symptoms or a problematic cosmetic appearance.
